Colleague Spotlight: Shawn Maynard
Meet Shawn Maynard, Incident Response Specialist at ConnectWise. One thing that makes Shawn proud about being a ConnectWise colleague is how much care and effort is put into ensuring partners have the cybersecurity support they need to protect their business.
Getting started at ConnectWise
What did you do before joining CW?
Before joining ConnectWise, I worked for ThreatTrack security, providing support to VIPRE antivirus users and training to internal colleagues.
Being a ConnectWise Colleague
What different roles have you had at ConnectWise?
Since I started with ConnectWise in 2013, I have been a dispatcher, technical documentation specialist, ConnectWise Automate support technician, quality assurance analyst, and ConnectWise Security Operations Center (SOC) analyst before joining the ConnectWise Incident Response Service team.
What do you enjoy about working at CW?
As adversaries increasingly target small- and medium-sized businesses, ConnectWise is working diligently to stay ahead and support our partners as much as possible. Being on the inside and observing how much care and effort goes into ensuring our partners have the tools and knowledge they need to defend their business and clients is one of the many things that makes me proud to be a ConnectWise colleague. Additionally, ConnectWise has a great company culture that focuses on collaboration and a partners-first mentality.
What’s something about your job that makes you feel accomplished?
Often, when a partner engages Incident Response Service, they are understandably experiencing a great deal of stress and uncertainty. Our job as incident responders is to provide guidance and investigate incidents. However, we also try to lighten the mood and provide reassurance as much as possible. When a case is closing and our partners thank us for the confidence with which we helped them get through the incident lifecycle—there is no better feeling.
What’s a big win you're really proud of?
Joining the ConnectWise Incident Response Service team shortly after its creation, I was fortunate to be in a position where I had many ways to play a role in maturing it. In December 2021, I started the team’s project management where I leveraged the team members’ incredible talent and experience for projects relating to automation, tool implementation, supporting applications, infrastructure, procedures, training platforms, and much more.
And now for some fun!
What’s your go to karaoke song?
I apologize in advance if you ever have to hear me sing karaoke, but it would likely be “The Underdog” by Spoon.
What’s a country you’d like to visit?
As an ancient history enthusiast, I have always wanted to visit Egypt to see the pyramids, ruins, and various archaeological sites.
What’s one bucket list item you're most looking forward to?
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to dive one of the big reefs. Currently, the Rainbow Reef in Fiji is at the top of my bucket list.
