Prioritizing data protection: a 90-day post-acquisition update

As we close out 2024 and look towards the new year, we want to keep the MSP community informed about our progress as we strive to become the leading provider of data protection solutions for MSPs.

Let's dive into a quick update on some of our commitments and the areas our teams are working on that are focused on your success.

Accelerating product innovation

We’re committed to delivering solutions that align with the evolving needs of our partners. Our product teams take a secure-by-design approach, which is laser-focused on core competencies to deliver best-in-class solutions.

Here’s a look at the areas our most recent and upcoming innovations, including developments with recently acquired ConnectWise companies Axcient™ and SkyKick™ in two key areas:  

Protect everything

  • Axcient x360Recover Geo+ offers an affordable way to maintain sufficient copies of client data to fulfill the 3-2-1 backup rule according to industry best practices. It’s now available for general access for partners in the US.
  • SkyKick Cloud Backup recently introduced delegated authentication, enabling partners to send authentication requests to their customers via a system-generated email or a secure link. This approach accelerates deployment while adhering to secure-by-design principles.
  • Coming soon: With the increasing adoption of Copilot and AI devices built with ARM processors, a gap in BCDR solutions has emerged. We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of our Windows 3.9.90 Agent, which will provide support for Windows Arm x64 systems. This presents an exciting opportunity for partners to be at the forefront of the market by offering protection for these devices.

Recovery first

  • Our product team has recently developed export capabilities for personal storage tables (PST) in x360Cloud. Prompt data reception and efficient exporting as a PST file are crucial challenges faced during data loss events. By leveraging PST export for x360Cloud, these concerns are effectively addressed, offering a seamless and dependable approach to ensure Microsoft 365 business continuity.
  • SkyKick Cloud Backup offers the most comprehensive Microsoft Teams backup. The team recently unveiled the ability to cross-restore Microsoft Teams. This gives partners the capability to restore a Team into another Team of the same type, rebuilding the structure that an end user is accustomed to.

Discover how ERGOS, leveraging SkyKick and Axcient, helped two customers get their business back up and running by recovering over 100GB of data for a tax and accounting firm after malicious deletion and 70GB of core data for an energy and resources firm post-Hurricane disaster, ensuring rapid recovery and continuity.

Deepening integrations

We’ve placed a strong emphasis on deepening integrations within the ConnectWise platform and third-party tools in the pursuit of enhancing the MSP experience.

ConnectWise Asio® integrations

Our focus is on enhancing the strengths and core competencies of our recently acquired companies and integrating them with the Asio platform to leverage AI, workflow automation, and support for additional operating systems and devices like NAS and BDR appliances. This deeper integration empowers MSPs to maximize the potential of their BCDR solutions, eliminating the need to switch between multiple tools and automating manual tasks performed by their technicians and engineers.

We’ve also enabled ConnectWise SSO for the x360 Partner Portal and we’re working on enabling it for the Cloud Backup portal in the first half of 2025.

Axcient Public APIs

Axcient Public APIs are now available to all users for x360Recover. In October, we released our Billing API, and we’re happy to share that early access for x360Cloud APIs is now available. You can integrate and build with these REST-based APIs immediately via developer.axcient.com.


With these APIs, you can explore a wide range of endpoints for clients, devices, jobs, vaults, and appliances. The custom code samples provided by our community can enhance your workflow and create tailored solutions.

Listening and learning  

Partner feedback is an invaluable component of the product development lifecycle. We value the input and feedback of our MSP partners as it ensures that our solutions effectively address the industry’s most pressing challenges. To that end, we’ve been working closely with our partner advisory council, which provides an avenue for open dialogue about concerns and ideas for improvement. Additionally, we continue to actively monitor feedback from various communities, including the IT Nation®, the ConnectWise Virtual Community, and external platforms such as Reddit, MSPGeek, and social media channels.
